For many women, early pregnancy is a very exciting time. After you discover that you are expecting a child, you may think to begin planning for your experience weekly. Every day you will have a thousand questions, in spite of that it is a extraordinary experience. Queries such as what you can have for breakfast, will you be able to work out, and what type of pregnancy evaluations should you consider asking for?

Symptoms of Pregnancy

With even the earliest signs of pregnancy, the signs or apprehension about being pregnant can be huge. For a lot of women, they complain that they are worn-out and strangely hungry. These principal pregnancy signs often guide women to begin the initial steps of getting a maternity test to find out if they are expecting a child.

If you learn out you are carrying twins all through your pregnancy the number of potential questions and worries may increase by two. How much weight will you gain, how can you avoid early labor, what can you do to boost your degree of success? Will you be required to go on bed rest? Let’s face it, the stress can be huge.

Pregnancy Week by Week

Whatever questions you possibly will have, understanding your pregnancy weekly may help you make skilled decisions. By monitoring your pregnancy calendar you may monitor where your baby is in the development process. Pregancy calendars are great resources because they allow you to better experience the miracle of pregnancy and the steps in planning for a new life.

There are multiple tools to select from, and no dearth of online and printed resources from which to extract information. Learn nourishment do’s and don’ts, and get the basics on other healthy pregnancy issues from working out to back soreness and sex. The more you know about your pregnancy calendar, the more convenient your pregnancy may appear.

When spring arrives, we all want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. When summer is just around the corner, we look forward to going to the beach, swimming, and participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities. The result of spending so much time outdoors is that we are increasingly exposed to the suns UV rays. This exposure can cause serious harm to our skin if we do not protect it.

It is essential to protect our skin starting at an early age because overexposure to harmful UV rays can take years to develop into skin cancer cells. Ultraviolet has a high frequency and therefore more energy which can be more hazardous. The more energetic a ray of light is, the more that light will break the skin molecules apart thereby damaging the cells. When these rays break through to the nuclei of skin cells and damage DNA, the likelihood of the development skin cancer increases.

There are three types of ultraviolet light as it relates to protecting the skin. They are UVA, UVB, and UVC. Although UVC is the most damaging of the rays, it is totally blocked out by the Earth’s atmosphere. UVB is the wavelength that causes the most sun damage on skin. UVB rays are more likely than UVA rays to cause sunburn, but UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin. Scientists now think that UVA radiation may increase skin damage that can lead to skin cancer and cause premature aging.

UV rays can penetrate the clouds and are at their highest during late spring and early summer. They are also at their most dangerous from mid-morning to late afternoon, and will cause serious skin damage. The sun and the UV rays can damage your skin within fifteen minutes of exposure. To protect your skin from UV damage, you should apply a zinc sunblock lotion before you are exposed to the sun.

Sunscreens lotions work by deflecting the UV sunlight or dispersing it. It is recommended that you use at least a 15 SPF (Sun Protective Factor) sunscreen. Your eyes can be affected by the UV rays too. You should protect your eyes with sunglasses that indicate that they block UV rays. You should also apply an eye cream that has sunblock on it. Reapply sunscreen lotion often. You should wear a waterproof sunscreen. As well, your lips have very fragile skin and can be seriously damaged by exposure to UV rays. You should apply a lip balm that has a sunscreen in it.

Your skin is the most exposed organ of the body. UV rays can do serious damage to the skin if left unprotected. For best protection, acquire a sunscreen product that is resistant to both UVA and UVB rays. As well, wear a hat that has a wide brim to provide shade for your face. If you do see an unusual change in your skin, see your doctor. Because our skin is valuable to our physical state of well-being, we need to take good care of it.

Perhaps we could live without air filters, but I don't suppose the prognosis on that is very good. Sure, the people in the olden days did it, but there really weren't all that healthy. Besides, they not only had better immune systems, but they certain lacked the chemical contaminations that are making life so much hell these days. There simply are too many air borne infections out there. You should not try being without air filters.

by Jul Tanner

There are particles in the air all around you, and you know it. Some of these things hurt you when you breathe them in. That is why there are so many air borne diseases on outbreak, and so many respiratory conditions that seem as though they cannot be diagnosed. That’s why you need air filters too, and more than you really know you do.

You probably don’t have a clue how many particles are in the air around you. Even with air filters, some still get past into your respiratory system, sometimes causing sickness and infection. Without the filters, we could all be ridden with disease, for real.

Nature pollutes the air, and we don’t make things a lot better either. You have to know by now that the air is no longer as sweet to breathe as it used to be, because of the pollutants. And so, you cannot trifle with the air filters – they are the life line we all need today.

Air filters aren’t meant for humans only; even machines need protection from pollutants in the atmosphere. And so, lots of machines are fitted with air filters as well. That way, particles don’t get in to damage the moving parts.

In your home and office, you have air filters. Sure you are not aware of it because you aren’t an engineer or something. However, they are what makes your air breathable, otherwise, you could be dead already. Hate to seem so melodramatic, but it’s true.

The environment isn’t clean and healthy, and you know it. Why else is so much being spent on air filters all the time? The time has come to awaken, and begin to take steps to stay alive yourself.

With all the information that is available all around you about air filters, you should know a lot more about it already. Perhaps it’s high time you started to study so that you can learn how to make the best of them all the time.

If a machine as unfeeling your vehicle needs an air filter to help clean out pollutants in the air that gets into its engine, I wonder how badly your body would need them too. You don’t want to fool around trying to live without air filters. You could die of disease in very little time, and you would have no one else to blame than yourself for not doing the smart thing.

The essence of air filters is to reduce the presence of pollutants in the air. Lord knows, the air is not short of them pollutants either. If only you could check the air out at any arbitrary moment, you’ll see it too. The type of air filter you use therefore depends on the application – mechanical, biological, or human. Take your pick, but be sure it’s one that can deal with the pollutants.

You have seen what asthma and pneumonia can do; you have got to know that respiratory diseases are no fun to suffer from. You leave yourself open to these things when you try to live without air filters. Enough of the games, and play just a bit safer, will you?

If you have children, you may want to look into an air purifier in the baby room to help your child sleep more restfully. Clean room air filters can be portable and include hepa room air filters.

Maternity clothes today aren’t frumpy or not stylish like in the past. There are so many choices and options when choosing maternity clothes for the stylish pregnant woman today. Even if you are still wearing your regular clothing, its not too far down the road, maybe three or four months, when you will be looking for more maternity clothing options and will turn to nice and comfortable maternity clothing. You can make this progression whenever you are ready. Your comfort is up to you.

Some of the necessities for your maternity wardrobe are listed below.

Underclothes – Thongs are great to wear during pregnancy as they can provide comfort and style. You can also purchase specially made maternity panties and briefs. You won’t really need nursing bras until you are nursing and your size can change so you may want to consider holding off on those until the baby is born, or only buy one and make sure it is returnable!

Maternity hose – maternity hosiery is an important staple if you will be working throughout your pregnancy and have the need to wear dresses, skirts or business attire.

Maternity dress – maternity dresses will provide you with that great professional look for the office. Or if you need that fabulous dress for a special occasion, evening wear maternity dresses are available too and they are simple beautiful.

Support belt – maternity support belts add additional support to your ever growing tummy during your pregnancy.

Maternity stretchy pants and shorts – you will want to relax in comfort when you have some downtime, so make sure you have some comfortable sweats, workout/yoga pants or even shorts.

Jeans – how many you need will be dependent upon how often you wear them now. If you are a big wearer of jeans, then a couple pairs of maternity jeans will be very important to you. If you mostly wear work clothes, you may only need one pair of maternity jeans.

Black Pants – black pants go a long way with everything, from work attire to evening wear. If you work outside the home, you will want more than one pair.

Maternity Tops or Blouses – You will probably want at least 7 of these. One for every day of the week, maybe more!

Winter outerwear – this is a necessity if your pregnancy is during the Winter months.

Maternity Swimsuit – Going to the beach? Don’t fret, cute maternity swimsuits are available at most of the maternity stores. Trendy and stylish, you will look great showing off your growing belly.

Maternity Wedding Dress – if you plan on getting married during your pregnancy. Some of these are just adorable!

Most importantly, you should look for clothes that fit well, are comfortable and fit your particular style.

Be conscientious when choosing baby bedding and sheets - these are the foundation to creating a comfortable space for your precious baby; and you want it to be as flawless as possible in all aspects. Don't feel beholden to the decor of the rest of the house! The nursery can be its own, completely separate space. It is all up to you - whether you stick within the rules or go wild with decorating. It is fine to allow your imagination go crazy if you are mother to be in the process of designing a nursery for your unborn child.

by Dorothea Frankson

It’s very important to thoughtfully select bedding for your baby, as this is his or her first haven and should be perfect in every aspect, from comfort and appearance to safety. A nursery can have a completely unique theme and concept, so the rest of your homes’ decor need not matter. Your choice can be simple or grand. You can choose basic colors that stay within your theme’s color range, or you can go over the top with prints and decorations too. If you’re just a would-be mother and you have the time to, you can let your imagination run wild planning our your future baby’s dream nursery.

Your first step should be in picking a theme for the nursery which can be anything from modern or traditional to fantasy land or animals and nature. There is no limit to the possibilities and your imagination can be fueled by getting ideas from baby product sites on the internet.

The Internet is full of ideas and thoughts and you can add your creativity to some of them to get a unique nursery theme. You will have so many ideas for you baby that you may feel that whatever theme you select is not quite right.

Your first task is to decide what type of colors, design or theme you want for your baby’s room, and then you are ready to shop for all the stuff to put in the room, including the baby bedding. You should keep the crib bedding simple, in order to give your child a safe place to sleep. Parents believe natural bedding products for babies can be allergy-free, soft, and safe.

Buying baby products can be so enjoyable that many mothers get carried away; so set a budget and try your best to stick to it. The most important factor when choosing any product for a baby’s nursery is comfort which is not necessarily related to the cost of the crib set. Comfort is more important than anything for your newborn, because it will encourage her to sleep on her baby girl bedding.

Make certain that the crib is free of anything that poses a suffocation threat, and check that enough fresh air circulates within the nursery. In order to ensure your baby’s safety and neatness of the crib, bedding and sheets should fit tight around the mattress. Set up your baby’s nursery keeping in mind safety and comfort of the newly born and relax.

Having a baby often comes with your parents and other family member’s encouragement. It seems, as soon as you move out on your own, they are asking when you plan to get married. From there, once married, they ask when you plan to get pregnant. Your parents, look forward to having grandchildren they can spoil and show off. Of course, once they are spoiled, they send them home to you. Be prepared, that no matter how great of a support system you have with your family, you are ultimately the one who will be caring for your baby.

You should carefully consider your career or any plans you have to establish your career. A prosperous career usually requires a lot of time and hard work. You should strive to reach for any career goals you have, and if that means you must work your way to the top, you need to be able to do so. The idea behind having dreams is to work to achieve them. If this is important to you, then you should work first on your goals, and worry about having a family later on.

What your spouse wants should be key to deciding on whether to wait for children or if you are ready now. Many times, one partner will want children now, while the other partner will want to wait for a period of time for whatever reason. It could be due to work commitments or that they just want to spend time with you for now. Regardless of the reasoning, communication is vital to your relationship, especially where babies an building a family are concerned.

Your financial status will play a big part in your decisions. Many young married couples do not have that much money in the beginning of their marriage so it may be a good idea to wait it out a little time until your finances are better before making the choice to start a family. If your financial situation plays a role, you and your partner should both agree on your strategy to get your finances where you want them before building your family. You will also need to determine what you both think is a solid financial situation for rearing children.

All parents want to give their children everything in their power, but it’s almost an impossible thing to do and could cause problems in the long run. If you decide you want to wait for a family until you have the perfect financial situation, you may be waiting forever, and never have children. It’s perfectly fine to wait though, until you and your spouse are ready. You want a child to bring love and joy to your life, rather than a feeling of feeling stuck and regretting that you had children too soon, or that you were not ready. Whatever you decide, the decision is yours, not your parents, family or friends. They will have to wait until you are ready.

The brain is the most intriguing and complex part of our bodies. It therefore needs the contributions of a variety of different kinds of food to function properly.

by Rene Lacape

The brain is the most intriguing and complex part of our bodies. It therefore needs the contributions of a variety of different kinds of food to function properly.

The simplest explanation for the role of carbohydrates in the human diet is one word: Fuel! There are three so-called macronutrients from which we can derive energy: They are proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Of the three carbohydrates is the most efficient energy source since it can be easily and efficiently be converted into glucose which can, in turn, be utilized directly by both nerve cells and muscles as an energy source.

There are two major types of carbohydrates. They are:

Simple Carbohydrates: They are common sources of energy. Have them from different sugary materials like fructose, glucose, sucrose, lactose, maltose etc. These sugars can be had from fruits, nuts, vegetables, cane sugar and honey. These carbohydrates convert into glucose quickly the sooner you consume source products. They help you gain energy rapidly and your body gets rejuvenated. But as it forms fast its impact too goes down soonest like a small fire burning quickly and downing early. Consumption of these carbohydrates keep your bloodstream intact for a while and they are filled with sugars instantly but thereafter your energy lessens. It is mandatory due to this primary reason that you go for other sources of energy to balance your body temperament. ‘Complex Carbohydrates’ are other categories of it providing complete energy to your body.

Complex Carbohydrates: Having the components of various sugar types, complex carbohydrates are usually denoted as polysaccharides. Our bodies take a bit longer time in digesting these sugars before it release glucose into bloodstream. Its impact remains enduring and energy achieved from them usually lasts for longer periods unlike simple sugars. Glycemic Index (GI) is a best method to measure release of energy from carbohydrates. Previous articles had ample space to describe this particular phenomenon. In continuum, GI can be further elaborated as an effective guiding source which helps you know appropriate carbohydrates you should choose to maintain your body and brain so that they remain charged for long.

.|It has been already described how energy availability and proper brain functioning is done. Do remember that nerve cells can’t function effectively unless you don’t provide constant stream of energy to them. You can go for following options: No glucose is stored in the nerve cells hence energy must be made available in the bloodstreams for proper functioning. Nerve cells responsible for communication are called neurons, which constantly remain active. They don’t follow ‘rest periods’ unlike your muscle cells and digestive system of your body. They keep working even when you are resting and keep repairing works besides performing the structural components to create enzymes and neurotransmitters. Communication is considered prime act of nervous system. The outcome of this process is sending ‘messages’ from one part of brain to the other. They keep the nervous system linked with entire body through communication process. Usually such communication happens through effective bioelectric signals, which are too much energy intensive.

Above mentioned facts reveal various facets of body functioning. Even if brain makes up approximately 2% of the body weight of an average person consumption of energy goes up to 20% of the total. Functioning of body is controlled by brain hence whenever bodies gain energy from any source it automatically passes on appropriate share of energy to brain. When you are under some trauma, this process becomes more systematic.

You must bear it in mind that brain doesn’t follow constant high energy usage. It often ranges from high to higher. Research findings conclude that whenever you do some sort of mentally demanding task like solving puzzles or negotiating mazes your brain require enough energy hence it automatically derives glucose from hippocampus which is a special portion in the brain. It keeps your learning and memory abilities intact. That is why regular lunch and snacks are advised for those involved in mental assignments. You can choose slow energy releasing carbohydrates when you are involved in intensive thinking works and plan to do them for longer periods. It is at this crucial juncture that you should understand Glycemic Index which guides you about best carbohydrates for sustainable brain functioning. In case you are not aware of them your mental level would remain low even after eating enough food.

There are many symptoms associated with ADD-ADHD, but perhaps the most frustrating can be the lack of focus and impulsivity that often comes with the condition. It is possible that these symptoms could be traced back to a brain starved of energy. Asking questions about nutrition and specifically about the kinds of carbohydrates that you are eating should therefore be one of the first steps that you take in taking control of ADD-ADHD. This is such an important topic that it will be further investigated in further articles, please check back regularly!

Our falsifying beliefs about fats keep us ignorant. We presume that fats are not fit for nutrition but the reality is different. No doubt some fats are not good for nutrition but not all are bad. We must know about good categories of fats which keep our brains healthy by developing blocks in them. Almost two thirds weight of human brains is due to fats. Two major roles which fats play in brain are as follows:

Membrane formation: A double layered membrane made up of fatty acids cover up the neurons in your brain properly. Their role is crucial as such membranes keep our brains function effectively. Their primary role is to help entry of best elements such as micronutrients, glucose and oxygen and keep the waste products away. Protection: Made up of 30% protein and 70% fat Myelin is a protective sheath which covers neurons.

Lots of efforts are required to keep brain healthy. We knew from the above mentioned guidelines that healthy brain needs different types of fatty acids. Our bodies produce some of them but we can gain much from diets. Fatty acids derived from diets are known ‘Essential Fatty Acids’. Some important fatty acids are mentioned below: Alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA): Major components of ‘Omega 3 Fatty Acids’ are procured from ALA which can be have by eating various kinds of fish, nuts, seeds and vegetables. Linolenic Acid (LA): ‘Omege 6 Fatty Acids’ have their important components in LA. Taking sunflower, corn and sesame oils are effective in getting them.

Our bodies usually apply both ALA and LA so that two highly effective fatty acids famously called Docosahegagonic Acid (DHA) and Arachidonic Acid (AA) respectively are prepared for proper functioning of brain. Both of them are too much complex unlike their ALA and LA counterparts. Brain performs complex roles, particularly formation of membrane through their help only. Besides being prepared in the body itself, DHA is also procured through certain categories of diets. It is due to this special need that we should remain extra careful to gain them otherwise many other complexities may overpower our brains. This is the major factor that appropriate supplement of DHA in our diets is always a preferred option.

Crucial role played by DHA for systematic functioning of brain and its effective role in managing ADD-ADHD cannot be ruled out. As per the research findings lack of DHA may lead to: Depression Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Diseases Cognitive Decline Hyperactivity.

The methodology upon which fat is consumed in our modern societies are one of the major reasons of failure in the implication of the above mentioned guidelines and healthy measures. We heat natural fats at extremely high temperatures which ultimately destroy the original essence of those fats. Famously called hydrogenation, this heating process gives worst impact when the fat molecules get altered dramatically and no naturalness remains in it. When these ‘trans-fatty acids’ enter into our nerve cells they become problematic due to maladjustment as hardly any DHA quality remains in them. Resultantly such cells in the brain having trans-fatty acids develop rigidness. This misfit results into negative outcome and its impact is seen in the miscommunication in neurons. Ultimately the performance of brain goes downslide due to the diets heavy on trans-fatty acids.

How can you implement above mentioned guidelines in your diet? Prefer quality diet containing fatty acids like Omega 3, Omega 6 and ‘pure’ DHA. Also remain strict in avoiding trans-fatty acids. In the meanwhile you should have keen interest in maintaining appropriate fat level in your body. Some effective ‘fat management’ strategies are mentioned here: Avoid Hydrogenated Fats: Hydrogenation damages your health. Trans-fatty acids are mainly created due to this. Its process develops when oils or fats are heated at extreme temperatures. Complete avoidance of fried food items is good to control it. Don’t also take oils and margarines prepared by hydrogenation process. Make ‘Omegas’ an essential part of your diet: Don’t forget to take both ALA and LA because they are ‘essential fatty acids’. Take them regularly. Cold water fishes like salmon, trout, mackerel and sardines are good choices. Likewise primrose and borage are best Omega 3 products like eggs and other diary items coming in the Omega 6 category. Supplement where necessary: Make it a habit to take regular supplements with enough ALA and LA. Choose perfect DHA if you don’t get enough quantity of it from regular diet. Manage body fat levels: As human brain is conglomeration of several blood vessels which supply energy, an extra amount of body fat once entered into them keep your brain at doldrums and force it to function improperly. Keep doing regular exercise which reduces fat from body. Besides this you should also manage fat in your diet for effective functioning of body.

Scholars and researchers agree to the fact that there is a strong link between lack of DHA and ADD-ADHD. It is at this perspective that fats should be dealt with. It doesn’t make any sense you keep ignoring fats. Appropriate management of it by selecting diets which bust ADD-ADHD would be prudent.

Precautionary steps in keeping yourself aloof from foods attracting your attention are best solution. This would keep your body and brain well balanced.

This week’s article exclusively focuses on extractive description of those issues which we had tackled over the period while we learnt about brain and its functioning besides other interesting points. This article will have detailed and elaborative description of this crucial aspect. I will remain confined to the descriptive part of this issue rather than going into the technical one. I have used this technique to present information in the form of “Top 8 Nutrition Tips for Optimum Brain Function” without making any complexity.

1. Maintain Balance: Human body is controlled by its most complex organ called brain. Don’t presume that it will work effectively by just one category of food. Overall growth and effective functioning of brain is possible through having best categories of nutrients like enough quantity of vitamin and minerals. It is therefore suggested that don’t concentrate on a particular supplement only. Go for all varieties in appropriate manner.

2. Take protein sufficiently to keep yourself healthy: Your negligence or following the latest food trends land you at the loggerheads and you land in a situation where your health turns pale. It must be noted that neither your body nor your brain can perform basic works perfectly without appropriate energy level. This energy you attain only when your food has sufficient amount of protein intake. It becomes mandatory to look for alternative options to have protein intake particularly when you are strict vegetarian. Choose some special diet which have best components of protein.

3. Choose consistent energy supplying methodology: Our bodies can’t perform effectively without being controlled by brain. As it is significant energy consuming part of our body at using approximately 20% of consumed energy, it plays greater role in the body. Brain should be supplied constant energy. When energy supplying process is continuous and balanced, its impact is seen for extended periods. Low-GI food is recommended to fulfill this particular aim. The foods release energy for longer periods and are good dietary options to nourish brain.

4. Take proper fatty intake in your food: Protection and membrane formation of our brains are possible through an appropriate intake of fats in our regular food items. Fats are pivotal in nourishing the brain. Omega 3, Omega 6 and ‘pure’ DHA are highly effective ‘brain fatty acids which help it get nourished properly. Do you really want to improve your brain power? Apply best sources of fats in your diet so that they keep your brain charged.

I5. Always go for vitamins and minerals: Brain is influential part of human body. It works to control entire body system. It must be fed with all types of vitamins and minerals to keep it energetic. Most important categories of vitamins include Vitamin E, B Vitamins, Vitamin C and Magnesium.

6. Keep yourself away from toxins and harmful substances: You should never, ever take foods which are laced with some sort of pesticide or the other. A few chemicals substances are least harmful but their excessive intake can prove fatal as they are very problematic. Some of these chemicals are particular artificial colours and flavours. The trans-fatty acids too are harmful as they are the byproducts of heating fats.

7 Don’t forget necessary supplements if needed: The sportingly dietary habits make it difficult to choose proper food which has balanced mixture of appropriate nutrients, vitamins and minerals that are important for proper functioning of our brains. Some supplements are suggested in many a cases to meet the desired target. Usually particular categories of vitamins and the trans-fatty acids are used as supplements.

.|8. Exercise for fitness: Exercising doesn’t come in the category of ‘nutrition tip’. Its importance is paramount for healthy body and mind. When you do regular exercising, your blood circulation keeps it warmed up which is of great benefit for brain too that must be provided with sufficient energy. It has been proved that storing of fat in the middle portion of the body not only hampers body growth but keeps your brain at low. It is at this context that exercise is crucial in reducing fat levels in the body.

The things mentioned above may seem like common sense but it is amazing how many people ignore them and then wonder why they feel ‘fuzzy’ and unfocussed! The fact is that we owe it to our brains to ‘do the right thing’ in terms of nutrition, especially if we are battling the symptoms of ADD/ADHD.
